Arizona houses many state-of-the-art medical facilities, some of which attract people from all over the world who travel here to receive top-notch medical care.   Perhaps the best-known facility is the Mayo Clinic, which is world-renowned for its outstanding level of patient services. Thousands of people every year come to the Mayo Clinic to be treated for a variety of health care ailments ranging from cardiac care to cancer. Some patients are evaluated and treated all in one day and are then sent home, and others require a stay at the Mayo Clinic Hospital, which is on the Phoenix campus.

Additional medical options in Arizona include those found throughout the Banner Healthcare system, in fact, Banner Health hospitals operate over 30 facilities ranging from large hospitals to smaller clinics, some of which are urgent- and same-day locations. Banner Desert in Mesa, Banner Thunderbird in Glendale, Banner Ironwood in Queen Creek (southeast of Phoenix) and Banner Estrella in west Phoenix are four hospitals that offer high quality medical treatments to their patients. Meanwhile, St. Joseph’s Hospital near downtown Phoenix is also extremely well-known for its outstanding healthcare, in fact, U.S. News & World Report’s annual listing of top hospitals routinely ranks St. Joseph’s in the top 10 for neurology and neurosurgery. The hospital is home to Barrow Neurological Center, several Centers of Excellence in various specialties, and a busy Trauma Center that handles everything from gunshot wounds to traffic accident victims to drownings/near drownings.

From obstetricians and gynecologists to dermatologists, oncologists and endocrinologists, specialists abound in Arizona, and it is easy to locate a doctor who can help you with a specific health condition. For very focused needs, Cancer Treatment Centers of America recently opened a facility in Goodyear called Western Regional Medical Center. An easy freeway drive from Scottsdale and Phoenix, the facility is known for its leading-edge cancer care.

Children who require intensive or specialized medical treatment will often go to Phoenix Children’s Hospital in Phoenix. The colorful building is staffed with kid-friendly doctors and nurses who do everything they can to make a child’s visit as stress-free and pleasant as possible. Along with its downtown location, the hospital also has two satellite offices that offer follow-up appointments, checkups and urgent care options.

Throughout Arizona, you will also find numerous smaller medical clinics and Urgent Care facilities. In addition, some national chain drug stores like Walgreens and CVS offer walk-in medical clinics located right inside many of their stores.

Arizona Houses So Many Fun Things to Do

From hiking, biking and boating to shopping, dining and dancing, Arizona houses a plethora of amazing real estate and even more amazing things to see, experience and explore.

Let’s start in northern Arizona, in Page, which not only enjoys its own scenic sights, but also serves as a hub for several different popular destinations known as the “Grand Circle”. A few short minutes drive north of Page is Lake Powell, where you can book a boat tour that lets you take in a wealth of scenic grandeur from beautiful Tapestry Canyon to the Rainbow Bridge.

Of course, no trip to Arizona is complete without at least a day at the Grand Canyon, which is only about a two-hour drive from Page. For the adventurous and physically fit, a variety of hikes await you, but if savoring spectacular scenery and souvenir shopping is more to your liking, you’ll find plenty of that here as well.

About two hours south of the Grand Canyon lies Sedona, Arizona. Famous for its red-rock formations, Sedona is also a must-see destination for visitors and residents alike, since the scenery and topography of the entire area, which includes the magnificence of Oak Creek Canyon, is quite simply breathtaking. Consider taking a guided tour in a four-wheel-drive vehicle; these trusty beasts-of-burden are known to clamber up and down some of the most stunning boulder-strewn landscape.

Closer to central Arizona, the Phoenix metropolitan area is filled with museums, theaters, sports stadiums, and shopping and dining venues. A fun day’s itinerary might include the Phoenix Zoo, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesen West and a visit to downtown Scottsdale, where upscale art galleries perfectly mix with old-fashioned cowboy charisma. If you’re here in March, take in a Major League Baseball spring training game, and end your day in Glendale’s Catlin Court, where old-world charm and historic homes have been converted into tasty eateries and delightful boutiques.

Southern Arizona is awash with the majesties of Mother Nature, and is also home to uniquely themed exhibits, including the Titan Missile Museum, which focuses on providing an education about the history of nuclear conflict around the time of the Cold War. Movie buffs should definitely check out Old Tucson Studios; situated just fifteen minutes from Tucson, this old frontier town has been the film-site for numerous Hollywood westerns, including movies starring John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. As you explore the grounds, you can watch a cowboy gunfight, enjoy a musical revue, take a ride on a miniature train into the surrounding desert or visit the Old Tucson Story Museum, home to a number of original costumes worn on television shows such as Little House on the Prairie and Bonanza.

Winslow Arizona Houses Petrified Forest National Park

Saturday, May 15th, 2010

Owning Arizona real estate is a lifelong goal for many people…and it’s no wonder why. Some folks live for Arizona’s outdoor sports, while others prefer to spend their free time playing one of the state’s gorgeous golf courses, soaking up the spectacular sunsets or moseying around museums and other family-friendly venues.

And something that pretty much everyone who owns a piece of real estate or even visits the Grand Canyon State will enjoy is Arizona’s Petrified Forest National Park.

Located east of Winslow, Arizona, the park is nestled inside the world-famous Painted Desert, and is home to 200-million-year-old fossils that will amaze even the non-science geeks in the family. The story goes that volcanic lava destroyed what was once a flourishing forest, embedding the remains of the trees into a vast acreage filled with ash and water. Millions of years later, erosion set the logs free, revealing a veritable wealth of magnificent petrified wood, which is made up mostly of quartz.

In addition to the Petrified Forest, the Park features more than 13,000 years of human history, including a nearly 800-year-old, 100-room dwelling called Puerco Pueblo. There’s also an extensive collection of prehistoric pottery fossils and numerous scenic hiking trails that range from half-mile to three miles – and each trail boasts breathtaking views of the surrounding Painted Desert. If you’re so inclined, head out into the Petrified Forest National Wilderness Area on horseback or via burro, mule or even a llama…we kid you not. When it’s time for sweet dreams, no problem – you can do an overnight backpacking trip through the park, or for those less adventurous, there are plenty of nearby hotels and campgrounds.
