Kudos to five Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) teachers who recently earned National Board Certification, one of the highest achievements in the teaching profession.
Two of the newly certified teachers are from Desert Mountain High School, two are from Copper Ridge Elementary School and one is from Redfield Elementary School. SUSD now has a total of 30 National Board Certified Teachers, a fact that proves that if you purchase or already own a home, condo or other residential real estate in Scottsdale, the local public schools offer an excellent choice for your family.
Developed by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, the elite National Board Certification strengthens and reaffirms teaching strategies, adds credibility to the teaching profession and represents the profession’s highest standards. After teachers attain eligibility, they take a Pre-Candidacy class to prepare for the certification process, which takes one to three years depending on the pathway a teacher chooses. SUSD teachers receive funding assistance from the district and the Arizona Department of Education.
The Scottsdale Unified School District has 31 schools and encompasses homes in most of the city of Scottsdale, in most of the town of Paradise Valley as well as in parts of Phoenix and Tempe. The district consists of five high schools, six middle schools, three K-8 schools, 16 elementary schools and one alternative school. SUSD is currently considered one of Arizona’s “Most Excelling” school districts, with 22 schools earning the highest rating from the Arizona Department of Education.
